Players and employees alike are sad to see the Mecca Bingo in Grays close its doors. Not only will loyal players lose their club but staff will be out of a job.
The bingo hall is to close for good on 19 July as the company opted not to extend its property lease.
One of the employees of the Quarry Hill location spoke to the Thurrock Gazette about facing the loss of her job next month.
A spokesperson from Mecca Bingo did not confirm that the location was closing but did say: “We never take the decision to close a club lightly. However, Grays has been under-performing for some time and we are considering taking the difficult decision of terminating our lease.
“This would enable us to increase our investment in the rest of our estate.”
