Yvonne Woolf had a special bingo memory to carry with her. The Swindon Advertiser requested nominations for folks that were deserving of something special during the holiday season last year and the 73-year-old was nominated by her granddaughter, Kimberley Newbold.

It was Newbold’s Christmas wish for her Nan to return to her favourite Gala Bingo hall in Greenbridge. She had been unable to attend bingo sessions once she was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer in August 2013.

“She had been through a hell of a lot,” said Kimberley.

“She was absolutely mad for bingo and she used to go every week but when she was diagnosed she found it difficult to go.

“Going to bingo seems like a small thing but it was what she loved. She really enjoyed it and we can’t thank the Adver enough.”

Yvonne was given a Matalan voucher and made it to bingo alongside two of her granddaughters. They were seated at a special VIP table in front of the bingo stage and served complimentary champagne and dinner.

“She passed away on February 12 and the bingo and trip to Matalan was her final outing,” she said.

“When we speak of the last memories we have of nan we all go back to that day at the bingo. It was amazing she was able to have that moment of joy.”

One again, the Adver is looking for nominations of special people deserving special wishes.
