Is Kinect Bingo in the Works?

Posted on Apr 14, 2012

At the weekend I was down visiting my little neice Ella, who just turned 5 years old, bless.

She had been given an Xbox 360 with the new fancy Kinect accessory, which is like a camera on top of the TV that records your movement and controls the game in various ways.

I must admit I had never seen it before, but it was surprisingly enjoyable and a bit tiring, jumping around and dancing like an idiot, but seeing the game react and move to your body movement.

It had me thinking just how far can this sort of technology be pushed to run other games, and whether or not perhaps in the future online bingo could be run on Kinect?

I don’t see why not. Xbox has a ‘marketplace’ where mini games can be bought for pennies and downloaded through the internet.

If someone was to create a bingo game and they could get enough people downloading it, make it compatible with Kinect, we could soon see loads of people waving their arms in the air to claim bingo or slap their hands down to dab a card.

Sure, the main audience for XBox probably don’t like bingo, being that they are mostly teenage boys, but the new Kinect is looking like opening up the market for Xboxes to the older generation who were similarly wooed by the Nintendo Wii when that first came around.

I for one would definately give it a try if Bingo could be brought out on a home console.
